Hello, reader friends! I have a question for you: is anyone else tired?

I don’t mean tired as in, I got to bed a little late last night. (Though of course, I did.) I mean your entire soul being tired, because 2020 has just taken its toll on everyone.

When we get to this point, we need self-care. It means cutting out whatever you’re able to, and adding in some things that make you happy.

I made a couple decisions this week along those lines…

First, I’m cutting this year’s NaNoWriMo. I started it, then got sidetracked by everything election related. (Maybe you heard we had some political stuff going on?) I’ve stopped paying attention to all that drama as well, but once I thought about going back to my writing, my heart wasn’t in it.

I’m certainly not stopping forever, but if I’m not feeling the magic, it’s drudgery, when it should be joy. And I certainly don’t need the pressure of trying to hit word counts all month. So that’s set aside for now. I’m going to see if I can be more active here instead, and see if I can finally get in the flow with my reading.

The next decision is this: 2020 has been a hot mess and I think we’re all ready to send it off in style. So I’m starting the holiday season early. From now on the holidays are *here* as far as I’m concerned!

That means I’m listening to Christmas music. I’m decking the halls and putting up the tree this weekend. I’m wearing cozy PJ’s with snowflakes, and I’m settling into some cozy books, including lots of winter and holiday themed reads!

When am I starting those holiday reads? I’m so glad you asked! Kimberly over at Caffeinated Reviewer is hosting the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon! Starting November 19th, I’ll be reading along with other readers and book bloggers, and there will be challenges, prizes, and all kinds of shenanigans! It’s my first time participating but this event has been happening for several years now. Come check out all the details here: Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon by Caffeinated Reviewer

So, come join us for some fun! And in the meantime, look for more festive content here in the coming days, like themed book reviews/lists, gift guides, and more. Happy reading, friends!
