Friends, we are knee deep in winter here! And by knee deep, I’m referring to the amount of snow now on the ground. We got six inches of the fluffy stuff last night in addition to what was already here.
And while I like a good winter wonderland as well as anyone… I’m ready for spring! In the meantime, I’m thankful for good books to get lost in.
Let’s see which of those good books I’m reading lately… it’s time for another WWW Wednesday!
It’s a fun way to keep up with what everyone is reading. To join me, read my answers, then answer the same questions about your reading in the comments below, and if you like, in the comments on Sam’s WWW Wednesday post! Simply use these three questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you plan to read next?
And now… onward to WWW Wednesday!
What are you currently reading?
I’m starting a new series by one of my favorite cozy mystery authors, Amanda Flower. Crime and Poetry is the first in the Magical Bookshop series! I’ll be reading all three titles (the 3rd releases in February) and reviewing the series. Here’s a peek:
Rushing home to sit by her ailing grandmother’s bedside, Violet Waverly is shocked to find Grandma Daisy the picture of perfect health. Violet doesn’t need to read between the lines: her grandma wants Violet back home and working in her magical store, Charming Books. It’s where the perfect book tends to fly off the shelf and pick you…
Violet has every intention to hightail it back to Chicago, but then a dead man is discovered clutching a volume of Emily Dickinson’s poems from Grandma Daisy’s shop. The victim is Benedict Raisin, who recently put Grandma Daisy in his will, making her a prime suspect. Now, with the help of a tuxedo cat named Emerson, Violet will have to find a killer to keep Grandma from getting booked for good…
What did you recently finish reading?
I just got my hands on the upcoming release of the newest in the Hannah Swensen series! (Thanks, Net Galley!!) Chocolate Cream Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke releases in February, but I’ve already reviewed it… check it out here!
What do you plan to read next?
As I mentioned above, I’m going to finish the Magical Bookshop series. But I’m also going to read Kate Morton’s The Forgotten Garden. I’ve really enjoyed the other titles I’ve read by this author, and this one has been on my list for quite a while. Then some blogging friends of mine, the Pingel Sisters, decided to choose this book for their inaugural Book Club pick. If you’re interested in participating, find out more here! The book sounds fantastic:
A tiny girl is abandoned on a ship headed for Australia in 1913. She arrives completely alone with nothing but a small suitcase containing a few clothes and a single book—a beautiful volume of fairy tales. She is taken in by the dockmaster and his wife and raised as their own. On her twenty-first birthday, they tell her the truth, and with her sense of self shattered and very little to go on, “Nell” sets out to trace her real identity. Her quest leads her to Blackhurst Manor on the Cornish coast and the secrets of the doomed Mountrachet family. But it is not until her granddaughter, Cassandra, takes up the search after Nell’s death that all the pieces of the puzzle are assembled. A spellbinding tale of mystery and self-discovery, The Forgotten Garden will take hold of your imagination and never let go.
So that’s the feast currently on my reading plate! How about you… any fantastic books in your immediate future? I hope winter is treating you well… happy reading!
