Reading List, WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday (1/2/2019)

Hello, everyone… and Happy New Year!  It’s always an optimistic time for me… it seems like things are starting fresh, and it’s the perfect time to make some changes!

One thing that won’t change?  Giving you great bookish info here at The Biblio Blonde!  And with that… time for WWW Wednesday!!

www-wednesday

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words!  I’ve done this one few times now, and it’s always a good mid-week status check of my list.  (You can see my last WWW Wednesday post here.)

It’s a fun way to keep up with what everyone is reading.  To join me, read my answers, then answer the same questions about your reading in the comments below, and if you like, in the comments on Sam’s WWW Wednesday post!  Simply use these three questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you plan to read next?

And now… onward to WWW Wednesday!

What are you currently reading?

I’d Rather Be Reading by Anne Bogel:  I’ve had this book on my shelves for a few months now, looking for the perfect time to cozy up with it!  What better time than as we begin a new year of a life spent with books?!?  I’ve only read the first couple of sections, but it’s already resonating, and it’s the sort of book that you want to savor.  If you’re a book lover and haven’t picked this up yet, I suggest you order it!

What did you recently finish reading?

One Day in December by Josie Silver:  I finished this delightful story on New Year’s Eve, and it was the perfect title with which to wrap up the year!  I just wrote a review of this title, which you can read here:  Book Notes: “One Day in December” by Josie Silver

What do you plan to read next?

Winter in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand:  The queen of the summer beach reads has a new *winter* beach read on the shelves!  This has actually been out for a couple of months, but I was just able to snag it from Net Galley.  After reading Elin’s Winter Street series last winter, I’ve added more of her titles to my list… and I’ve heard great things about this one.  Take a peek:

Irene Steele shares her idyllic life in a beautiful Iowa City Victorian house with a husband who loves her to sky-writing, sentimental extremes. But as she rings in the new year one cold and snowy night, everything she thought she knew falls to pieces with a shocking phone call: her beloved husband, away on business, has been killed in a plane crash. Before Irene can even process the news, she must first confront the perplexing details of her husband’s death on the distant Caribbean island of St. John.

After Irene and her sons arrive at this faraway paradise, they make yet another shocking discovery: her husband had been living a secret life. As Irene untangles a web of intrigue and deceit, and as she and her sons find themselves drawn into the vibrant island culture, they have to face the truth about their family, and about their own futures.

Rich with the lush beauty of the tropics and the drama, romance, and intrigue only Elin Hilderbrand can deliver, Winter in Paradise is a truly transporting novel, and the exciting start to a new series.

Sounds fantastic, no?  And if I try hard enough, I bet I can pretend I’m reading it at the beach on a Caribbean island.  I’m willing to give it a shot, anyway!

What about you?  What great books are you reading to kick off 2019?  Tell us in the comments what you have been, are, and will be reading!  Can’t wait for more great ideas.  (Although my shelves really wish I’d quit making mental notes for more books to add.  Sorry, shelves!)  Hope you’re curled up with a great book… happy reading!

  1. Curious to hear what you think about WINTER IN PARADISE. Another blogger reviewed it and was disappointed in it–I think she expected something more light-hearted? But I don’t feel Hilderbrand ever writes completely light-hearted books, lol.
