WWW Wednesday (10/24/18)

Hello, bookish friends!!  I’m trying something new today… I have been seeing this on several blogs I follow, so I wanted to throw my hat (er, books) into the ring!

This is called WWW Wednesday, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words!

It’s a fun way to keep up with what everyone is reading.  To join me, read my answers, then answer the same questions about your reading in the comments below, as well as in the comments on Sam’s WWW Wednesday post!  Simply use these three questions:

  1.  What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you plan to read next?

Ready? Welcome to WWW Wednesday, The Biblio Blonde edition!

Well, it turns out I’m in cozy mystery mode this time of year, because all three of my books fit that category!

What are you currently reading?

I’m reading Ice Cream and Incidents, which is the latest installment of the Peridale Cafe Mysteries by Agatha Frost.  This is a fun series set in a little English village.  Our main character, baker extraordinaire and amateur sleuth Julia, leads a fun cast of characters on quite the series of adventures.  In this one, a sudden mystery vacation won at a raffle sounds like a great way for a relaxing time away from Peridale, but as soon as she arrives with her family, Julia finds herself caught up in yet another puzzling mystery, this time when a lighting rig falls on a star performer in a drag queen show.  Was it an accident?  Or will the secrets and motives among the group lead Julia to a more sinister answer?

If you want to try this series from the beginning, there is a *fantastic* deal right now on the set of the first 10 Peridale mysteries on Kindle… all ten for just 99 cents!!  (Or read it for free if you are a Kindle Unlimited member.)  If you’re a cozy mystery fan, how can you pass that up?!?

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished Premeditated Peppermint, which is the third book in Amanda Flower’s Amish Candy Shop mystery series.  I just did a full review of this great title, so if you want to know more about it, take a peek here:

Book Notes: “Premeditated Peppermint” by Amanda Flower

What do you plan to read next?

I have a book waiting on my Net Galley shelf by a new-to-me author!  Murder at Harbor Village is the first in a new series by G.P. Gardner.  Here’s the description:

Young retiree Cleo Mack is trading in academia for a second act in Harbor Village, a community for active seniors in coastal Alabama. But someone in this picture-perfect coastal town is burning the candle at both ends . . .
It’s love at first sight when Cleo arrives in Fairhope, Alabama, after taking early retirement from her longtime position as professor of social work. Touted as “the nicest town in the world,” Fairhope is home to an eclectic community of retirees. Harbor Village boasts classes in painting, pottery, and photography, not to mention being a buyer’s market for husbands. It seems an ideal place to make new friends and rediscover life. Until a dead body is found in the pool.
When the victim turns out to be the unpopular director of senior living, Cleo is named acting director. Now she must rely on her well-honed people skills to uncover a killer in a place where short-term memory isn’t what it used to be, and age is just a number. And if Cleo keeps snooping around, her number may soon be up . . .

So there you have it… my WWW Wednesday list!  What have you been reading?  Be sure to leave me your list, or a link to your own WWW Wednesday post, in the comments below.  Happy reading!

      1. Oh no, definitely not for review copies! Those are every book bloggers weaknesses. Free ebooks don’t count either. I have gotten at least 11 books this month. Three were with a gift card. The others were on Book Depository and Book Outlet. Still waiting for those! Library books also don’t count either. 😉
