Hey there bookish friends! July has been pretty quiet around the blog. I promise I’ve been reading, and I will soon have *two* new Book Notes posts for you… one is a guest post on Brooke Blogs, so I’m excited about that opportunity! (I will post a link when it’s live!)
But, in the meantime… how about a little Friday Fun?
In the last couple of weeks, my friends on Twitter have nominated me for five different book tags! Never in a million years will I catch up with all of them at this point, so I decided to choose my favorite and run with it!
Fellow book blogger The Artsy Reader (thanks Noly!) nominated me for The Liebster Award, which is a nice opportunity to get to know fellow bloggers and discover some new ones! This tag only has a few simple rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you, provide a link to their blog, and copy and display the award.
- Answer 11 questions they asked you.
- Come up with your own 11 questions.
- Tag 11 bloggers for the next round. (Don’t forget to tell them!)
The first step is done, so on to Noly’s eleven questions for me…
What is your favorite time of year? Definitely fall! You can’t beat the colors, the scents of pumpkin and apple, warm drinks, the chill in the air in the evening… not to mention football, Halloween, and beautiful decorations. Then it all caps off with Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays!!
If you didn’t have to worry about calories and health, which one food would you eat for the rest of your life? Pizza. No contest. (Really, do people give other answers?)
If you would write a book, which genre would it be? Well… I actually am in the process of writing a book! I’m not as far along with it as I’d like, but it’ll get there. It’s a women’s fiction/sweet romance. I can’t see myself writing too far outside that general category.
What’s your favorite time of day to read? Late at night, after everyone else has gone to bed. (And usually some time after I *should have been* in bed, LOL!)
What super power would you love to have? Hmm… I think teleportation. I would love to travel more, it’s just that I don’t enjoy the actual process of traveling. (Which sort of hinders the whole thing!) So I could go anywhere, and do and see whatever I wanted, and not have to deal with airline schedules and delays, crowds, packing, etc. I’d just pop over to Paris for lunch, stop in Jamaica for some beach time, then home to my pj’s and sofa! (A girl’s gotta have a dream…)
What is the last book you finished but didn’t like? It was a cozy mystery in a longstanding series. (I don’t want to say which one. Most of the series is good, but the last couple books have really lagged, and not been as well written as the earlier books.) But it’s one of those things where, you’ve committed and hung in there *this* long, so you need to see it through and see how the series ends!!
What is the best book you’ve read so far in 2018? All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin. It was fantastic… you can read my review of it here if you missed it! A couple of close runners-up have been Heart Land by Kimberly Stuart, and The Dress Shop of Dreams by Menna Van Praag.
What is one book that surprised you (because you didn’t expect it to be so good)? I’m going with the above-mentioned The Dress Shop of Dreams. I had no expectations when starting the book, because I didn’t know much about it and I hadn’t read anything else by that author. But it was truly delightful. (Hey, I wrote a review about this one too… click here!)
Which celebrity would you most like to meet and why? I would love to meet Ree Drummond, otherwise known as the Pioneer Woman. I admire her so much… she started as a mom who became a blogger, and has since built an empire! She has to be an incredibly savvy businesswoman, but she seems so down to earth and exactly the sort of gal you’d love to meet for coffee. (Or, if she *insisted* on making me a scrumptious lunch at the Lodge, I’d be happy to go… that’s the sort of friend I am.)
What place would you love to visit next? I’ve always wanted to see northern California… wine country, the redwoods, the beautiful coastline! (Now what would be great is if I could just, I don’t know… teleport there?)
What’s your most embarrassing childhood memory (only tell if you’re comfortable with sharing it)? My 7th grade Christmas concert for band. A couple of us got to go out into the audience during the final number and hand out mini candy canes. We were trying to hurry back up on stage when I slipped (12 year olds aren’t used to wearing dress shoes) and, whoosh… my feet flew out from under me and I landed hard on my backside. Did I mention I was wearing a skirt with the dress shoes? Honestly, not that many people saw as I was running up a side aisle, but it was mortifying all the same.
Wow… that was pretty fun! A couple I really had to think about, but for others, I knew my answer almost before I finished reading the question!
Next is my list of 11 questions for the next group in line:
- Do you love or hate to exercise, and what are your favorite fitness activities?
- If you could interview any author, past or present, who would it be and what’s the first question you’d ask that person?
- Aside from social media and the basics (email, calendar, texting)… what app do you use the most on your phone?
- Do you like to play board games? What’s your favorite or most played?
- Any pets? Tell us about them. (If you don’t have one now, you can tell us about one you grew up with.)
- How long have you been blogging, and why did you start?
- What’s your favorite season, and what do you love about it?
- Name a food you love that no one else seems to like, or a favorite food combination that others find disgusting.
- What social media do you use the most, and how do you find it useful for your blog?
- Coffee or Tea? (And what’s your favorite flavor/how you take it?)
- What was your last five-star read?
And now, for my last trick… I nominate the following bloggers for the next round of the Liebster Award:
Sarah @ Mom, Wife, Wine
